Carbacid Investments Plc is an investment holding company primarily engaged in the production, processing, and marketing of natural carbon dioxide gas through its flagship subsidiary, Carbacid (CO₂) Limited. The company specializes in high-quality, food-grade CO₂ that meets international standards such as FSSC 22000, supplying the beverage, industrial, and medical sectors across Eastern and Southern Africa, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and beyond. Its product range includes food-grade liquid CO₂, compressed CO₂, medical CO₂, dry ice, and cylinder testing services, with a strong emphasis on mining from natural underground reservoirs and state-of-the-art purification facilities.

Tracing its origins to BEA Sawmills Limited, which began extracting CO₂ from Kereita Forest in 1933, Carbacid was officially incorporated in 1961. By 1971, regional business growth led to the establishment of a Nairobi office, depot, and dry ice plant. To fund expansion, the company restructured, listing Carbacid Investments Limited on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) in 1972. Today, it maintains a diversified portfolio with investments in property and financial assets via subsidiaries Goodison Twenty Nine Limited and Goodison Forty Seven Limited.

Carbacid holds a market-leading position in East Africa as the largest producer of food, medical, and industrial CO₂, boasting robust financials with FY2024 revenue of KSh 2.066 billion (20% growth) and net profit of KSh 843.3 million. The company emphasizes sustainability, including a 450 KWp solar plant, and exports account for over 77% of sales, underscoring its regional dominance and commitment to innovation and stakeholder value.
